The Power of Home Fund

You can do 2x the good for our Louisville neighbors. Click here to double your impact!

As we navigate this public health crisis together, we are reminded that the uncertainty so many of us feel today, many families have felt for a lifetime – if not generations. The families we seek to serve are already vulnerable. They are health care workers. Bus drivers. Daycare teachers. A missed paycheck can mean catastrophe.

Many of our families are also living in overcrowded, unsafe or substandard housing conditions.Currently, over 15% of our homebuyers have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and are feeling the strains from the loss of income. In addition, over 5% of our homeowners have been impacted by COVID-19 and are seeking mortgage assistance.

Now is the time to come together in a strong way for our Louisville neighbors.

Habitat Louisville’s Power of Home Fund

To respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re launching theย Power of Home Fund.ย Your investment in theย Power of Home Fundย will do two things: protect homeownership and keep critical projects moving forward.ย Living in a safe and stable home during this time makes all the difference.ย

Thanks to a generous matching grant, your gift to theย Power of Home Fundย will be doubled dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000. Donate now and double your impact. You have the power to bring hope home.

Here’s how we’ll put your donation to work:

  • Protect Homeownership. No family should lose their home because of COVID-19. As our homeowners face economic hardships due to the loss of their jobs, your gift helps ensure that our homeowners do not incur late fees or face the threat of foreclosure during this time.
  • Keep Critical Projects Moving Forward. While our offices and job sites are closed to the public and volunteers, we’re still working diligently for our homebuyers who are seeking to achieve the security that a home provides. Your gift will help us implement safety protocols and complete critical tasks to keep our homes moving forward.

Added Incentive!

To help you support nonprofits during this COVID-19 pandemic, the CARES Act passed by Congress provides for a one-time, above-the-line deduction for charitable donations of up to $300 per taxpayer or $600 per married couple in 2020. This is available even if you take the standard deduction option. If you do itemize your tax deductions, the limit for charitable contributions is suspended for 2020.
