A Shared Dream, Different Paths
Andrea and Ayreale have always been close. Now, thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville, they’re not just identical twin sisters—they’re neighbors. At Santa Fe Crossing, their homes sit just steps apart, creating something they’ve always had, but now in a new way: a built-in support system rooted in stability, opportunity, and home.
Both Louisville natives and graduates of Central High School, Andrea and Ayreale grew up side by side. Today, they even work at the same hospital, UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth.
Their paths to homeownership, though, looked a little different. Andrea was accepted into the Habitat Homeownership Program on her first try. Ayreale wasn’t, but she didn’t stop. She kept applying, determined to turn her goal of homeownership into reality.
Ayreale's Story

For Ayreale, home has always meant more than just a place to live. “Living by my sister means having a built-in support system,” Andrea shares. “Home is a safe place. It means comfort and stability,” adds Ayreale.
She and her four-year-old daughter, Alayia, were ready for a new chapter filled with Sunday family dinners, a backyard to play in, and a “Frozen-themed” bedroom that Alayia had been dreaming about. Inspired by a Facebook post about Habitat, Ayreale applied alongside her sister. She wasn’t accepted at first, but she kept trying. At 24 years old, that persistence paid off and she’s now building a better future for her daughter.
Ayreale’s home was made possible thanks to the generous support of Kentucky Farm Bureau. To learn more about her journey, read this feature from Kentucky Farm Bureau.
Andrea's Story

For Andrea, the journey started with a desire for something more stable for her and her son, Aerion. After growing tired of rising rent and constant changes in her living situation, she looked for another option and was inspired about her cousin’s Habitat homeownership experience. She applied and was accepted on her first try. At just 23 years old, Andrea became a homeowner.
“Home means ownership and stability. It’s something no one can take away from me.” She looked forward to cooking meals in her new kitchen, watching her son play freely outside, and finally having a space that was truly theirs.
Andrea’s home was made possible thanks to our generous sponsors St. Matthews Baptist Church, Melbourne Heights Baptist Church, Westport Road Baptist Church, Broadway Baptist Church, and Lyndon Baptist Church.
Building a Life—Together
Before Habitat, the sisters lived in the same apartment complex. Today, they live across the street from each other in Santa Fe Crossing, with their mother also nearby. This creates a close-knit support system rooted in family. Now settled into their homes, Andrea and Ayreale are building more than stability. They’re building a life together as twin sisters, neighbors, and mothers—sharing meals, supporting one another, and creating lasting memories just steps apart.
