2021 Interfaith Build
This summer, The Interfaith Build: The House That Love Built will give the opportunity for several faith communities to come together and unite for a common purpose: build a home in partnership with a family in need of a decent place to live.
Meet the future homeowners, Ali, Fatuma and their kids! Although Ali and Fatuma didn’t know each other prior to the U.S., the couple is from the same town in Somalia and both moved to the U.S. in 2004. The family was accepted into Habitat’s program on their fifth attempt. They needed to improve their credit and bring in a higher income and they’ve worked hard these last few years to become a 2-income household while raising their 4 kids.
“This means everything to our family and it’s why we’ve never lost sight of our dreams,” says Ali. “This home means a brighter future for our children. Fatuma and I both come from the toughest of situations growing up and we’re grateful to give our children what we never had. This home will hold so many memories for years to come.”
The Interfaith Build: The House That Love Built will kick-off this June at Richmont Terrace and will give our Louisville community members a chance to learn and grow by putting God’s love into action and living out their faith. Any chance to show there is more that unites us than divides us is a step towards understanding one another.
