Interested in Borrowing a Tool?

Roll up your sleeves, rent the tools you’ll need and start trimming, mowing and planting for this spring!

On Saturday, March 27th, 2021, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville will open our Garden Tool Library at The Portland Neighborhood ReStore located at 1631 Rowan Street, 40203. You will be able to rent tools to trim bushes, mow the grass, trim weeds, plant flowers and much more. For any questions about our Garden Tool Library, contact Angela Brooks at or (502) 805-1417.

Here’s how the Garden Tool Library will work:

The Garden Tool Library will be open on Saturday, March 27th, from 10:00 am- 2:00 pm at the Portland Neighborhood ReStore. In order to rent a tool, renters will:

  • Need to have their ID or an official mail piece be photocopied.
  • Pay a $5 fee for hand tools or $15 fee for gas or electric power tools.
  • All charges are reimbursed when the tools are returned to the Portland Neighborhood ReStore by 3:30 pm on March 27. If the tools are not returned on 3/27, a $1/day fee will be deducted from your reimbursement.
  • Limit 2 tools per person

  • Lawn Mowers
  • Grass Trimmer/Weed Eater
  • Leaf Blowers
  • Chainsaw
  • Rakes
  • Shovels
  • Tree and Bush Trimmers
  • Wheelbarrows
  • Watering Hoses
  • Gloves, safety glasses and waste bags available to renters while supplies last
